20110212 K. Diegem Sport – KSK Hasselt 1-0

Thanks to few committed people who were willing to clear the waterlog field before the match, that the game was allowed to be played by the refree. As expected it was a muddy affair, the conditions of the field made it very difficult for both teams, but the show must go on. Diegem was the better team, creating some good chances in the first half, in fact they scored twice but was disallowed on both occatoins by the refree. One for a challenge on the keeper and the other for offside both decisions were questionable but refree’s decision was final! The first ended 0-0.
Second half, saw Diegem turning up the heat a lot more with , Adil, hitting the bar with a shot and Ayoub with a header, Diegem was also awarded a panelty, which Nils failed to convert. In the midts of all those missed chances, match winner for the second week in succession, Din Sula, managed to steal a header that went under the keeper’s arms and rolled past the goal line making it, 1-0, to Diegem. Three points in the bag for Diegem but it’s game that would not be in many of our memory as a classic.

Door de zware regenval van vrijdag was het veld van Diegem herschapen in een waar modderbad. Geen voordeel voor ons tegen een technisch en fysiek zeer sterke tegenstander. Het wordt ploeteren en zwoegen en in de eerste minuten krijgen we al een serieuze verwittiging wanneer een afstandsschot tegen de deklat belandt. Na de eerste vijf minuten vinden we onze drive en komen we goed in de wedstrijd. Iedereen doet goed wat er gevraagd wordt en we liggen zeker niet onder, bij momenten komen we zelfs gevaarlijk opzetten.
Weinig kansen en veel middenveldspel zorgen voor een 0-0 rusttsand. Na de pauze blijven we hard werken en iedereen knokt voor wat hij waard is. Het krachtigere Diegem heeft iets minder moeite met het veld en een hoge bal wordt kansloos naast onze doelman binnengekopt. 1-0. Even later zetten wij een mooie aanval op maar het iets te zwakke schot belandt in de handen van de Diegemse keeper. Tien minuten voor tijd krijgt de tegenstander een strafschop als hun spits in het strafschopgebied gehaakt wordt. Onze keeper pakt de elfmeter en zo blijven we in de wedstrijd. Echte kansen krijgen we niet meer en we verliezen de wedstrijd met het kleinste verschil.

20110205 K. Diegem Sport – KV. Turnhout 2-1

Tunhout, always turn-up the heat when they play Diegem and this time was no exception, it was a windy Saturday morning and both teams were egar to get the ball rolling. Diegem started confidently with some swift passes and couple of shorts at goal but Turnhout, with their rock solid defence well ochcestrated by their captain and keeper was able to undo most of diegem’s threads. However there was one incident mid- way through the first half where Turnhout had failed to handeld one of the diegam’s attack properly which resulted in Nils sending unmarked Ayoub a nice pass and Ayoub sent a dipping short into the back of the net, 1-0 for diegem.
Second -half saw Turnhout, make a fine comeback and comeback they did, Number 4 Stef, was always, a thread when he get the ball in front of the Diegem’s panalty area, and digem gifted him a wonderful opportunity when they gave turnhout with a free kick. Number 4, stef placed the ball, walked back a couple of step and took an excellent shot which found the back of the diegem’s net, 1-1.
Diegem gave everything they’ve got in search of the winner but it was looking quiet dim as the clock ticked by. Diegem’ s persistance paid off in the dying minutes of the game and Din Sula was the match winner with a header which just got pass the reach of turnhout’s brilliant keeper, 2-1; final score.

20110129/ Couillet La Louvière vs K. Diegem Sport PORSPONDED

K. Diegem Sport – RFC de Liège 3-0

Everyone was talking about this match as being vital to both team, it’s first(Diegem) verses second(Liege), only two points separates the two team. Liege came in determine to knock Diegem off the top spot which they have been sitting on comfortably, since the begining of the season right through the winter break. From the kick off they showed their intentions clearly, they rocked the Diegem’s crossbar from a free kick and had a goal disallowed for offside early in the first half. however their quest to score the first goal and gain control the game was swiftly met by Diegem. Eventually theirb (Liege) determination turned into frustration as they failed to get the goal they so badly wanted (two yellow cards and a red for the visitors, even their trainer was cautioned). The first half ended all square 0-0, but Liege will have to play the whole second half with one man short.
Deigem came out the second half and started to show their quality and played football like they know how to do, in a matter minutes they scored through Ayub after some brilliant passes, 1-0. The refree then denied Diegem a clear panelty claim, when Nils was violently pushed inside the panelty box, as he was goal bound. Minutes later Thoma was tripped inside the box and this time the refree had no doubts as he pointed to the spot. Nils was given the pleasure of taking it, which he did with class to make it 2-0. When Din sula made it 3-0, the visitors finally accepted their defeat. The second half saw three more yellow cards flashed, one more to the visitor and two to the home team and the dismissal of the Liege team’s trainer from the dugout by the refree.
When the refree blew for the final whistel, it was like the release of steam from a pressure cooker, that was the level of intensity in which tha game was played. Diegem worthy winners, Liege have to wait till 9th of April 2011, for round three!

Bregel Sport – K. Diegem Sport 0-1

Both sides entered the game with caution, Diegem, know they cannot afford to loose points, and Bregel, not wanting to repeat the 7-0 trashing they received when they played away in Diegem, in September.As a result both teams did not creat much chances, and just when it looked like the teams will take a point each, Diegem was presented with a lucky break in the last 10 minutes of the game. Din found Thoma unmarked at the left hand side of the Bregel panelty area and provided him with a neat pass, Thoma, had a rather acute angle to take a chance he did so with a accurate lob that grazed passed the bewilded keeper, into the back of the net.The celebration from the Diegem camp showed just how important that goal was to them. Diegem could have increase their lead in the dying mimutes of the game, when they were awarded a penalty. However the panalty was squanded, by Gilian and it counted for nothing. Bregel made Diegem to work hard for the three points, when the final whistel went there were dissappointments at the Bregel’s camp, who felt that they deserved at least a point from the game, and relief in the Diegem’s camp. Final score, Bergel Sport 0 – K Diegem Sport 1.

Diegem went into the game determine to get back into winning ways, after two conseceutives draws, their hunger for the full 3 points was rewarded, shortly after kick-off. A calculated, header by Din, from a corner kick taken by Nils, just minutes after kick-off, found the the left hand corner of the roof of the net, leaving keeper and defenders rooted to the ground as they watched the ball go in. Midway through the first half a simple pass after some brilliant footwork by Drin to distract the dedenders found Sabri at the top of the panelty box, from there he blasted a well taken shot which sailed past keeper and defenders, and once again it found the the left hand corner of the net, the first half ended with Diegem going into the dressing room with a conviencing 0-2 lead.

The second-half, saw Hasselt making a strong come back but their efforts were swiftly met by the rezillion deigem backline. When Diegem finally regained control of the match, a clear panelty claim in their favour was denied by the refree. However, Diegem sealed the victory and bagged in the 3 points, when a pass from Din found Michael in Hasselt’s panelty area, he went pass a defender and took a tame shot, which caught the keeper off guard and made it 0-3 for Diegem. Seconds before the final whistle, a cleaver dummy by Nils found Sabri about 3 meters in front of the keeper, however his shot this time went stright into the arms of the keeper. The refree blew for the final whistle after that, final score, KSK Hasselt 0 – K Diegem Sport 3, a well deserved win for Diegem. White star, awaits us in our next home match.

Op een moeilijk bespeelbaar veld mochten we aantreden tegen de ongeslagen leider in deze reeks. Al in de beginfase kon een hoekschop binnengekopt worden aan de tweede paal door de krachtige en grote spits van Diegem. 0-1. We speelden nochtans niet slecht en lieten de bal bij momenten goed rond gaan maar in de duels trokken we toch te vaak aan het kortste eind. Als we de bal niet voldoende weggewerkt krijgen wordt de bal van ver buiten de backlijn onder de lat binnengetrapt. 0-2. Na de pauze combineren we beter en gaan we op zoek naar een doelpunt. De laatste pass komt er echter niet voldoende uit en het is weeral Diegem die na een snelle counter de score nog kunnen opdrijven na alweer een krachtig afstandsschot. Eindstand 0-3.
